After the success of the 300 km of the Porsche C6 Bank Endurance Challenge, last weekend, it was time for the Sprint Championship stage, the short races, of the Porsche Cup C6 Bank. The category will end its trip to Europe on the same stage, the Estoril Circuit.
With approximately 54 drivers present on the Carrera Cup and Sprint Challenge grids, excitement is guaranteed with the Porsche 992 field consisting of 32 cars and the 991.2, with a further 22. Numbers that allow the Porsche Cup C6 Bank to be highlighted as one of the biggest tests of the brand in the world. It will be the fifth time that the classic Estoril track, with 4,182 meters and 13 curves, hosts a Sprint event.
Winner of the 300 km Endurance Challenge in Estoril alongside Rubens Barrichello, Werner Neugebauer is the championship leader, with 131 points. The Gaucho in car #8 is also the driver with the most victories in the current season, already having three. Marçal Müller, with 126 points, and Miguel Paludo, with 125 points, are their main competitors in the fight for the championship. In addition to Werner, the remaining victories of the current season went to Müller, Raijan Mascarello and Thiago Vivacqua. At Carrera Sport, the leadership is Francisco Horta; while at Rookie, Israel Salmen is in first.
For the Sprint Challenge, Miguel Mariotti took the lead of the championship after the Interlagos stage, with 106 points and has a seven-point advantage over Antonella Bassani, current champion of the category. Only the two have won races this season so far. Sadak Leite is third, followed by Célio Brasil and Caio Castro. In Sprint Challenge Sport, the leadership belongs to Célio Brasil, and in Rookie, it is the young Caio Chaves who occupies the highest place in the classification.
The sports weekend in Estoril will have four races and two qualifying sessions.
