CNV I \/ 2026 \u2013 Estoril hosts the start of the 2026 CNV season<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

A mild and sunny morning greeted teams, riders and the public at the Estoril Circuit to welcome the opening of the 2026 season of the National Speed <\/span>\u200b\u200bChampionship (CNV). With a total of 63 entries for the first contest of the year, the Estoril track was the stage for the initial duels in the Superbikes (SBK), Supersport 600 (SSP), Naked Bikes Trophy (NB), Dunlop Motoval Cup (CDM), CNV Moto 4 (CNVM4), Supersport 300 (SSP 300), CNV Sportbike and CNV Junior categories. A day and weekend full of action, adrenaline and uncertainty in the results was anticipated, with timed practice sessions held during the morning and the first races of the season in the afternoon of this Saturday, May 16th.<\/span><\/p>\n

CNV JUNIOR (Premoto4 and CNV Junior)<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Marcos Ascensio signs first overall victory of 2026 in Premoto4<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Sim\u00e3o Viegas wins in Junior<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The first race of the 2026 season was given to the field of 11 riders of the newly named CNV JUNIOR (CNVJR), composed of two categories. In the PREMOTO4 (PM4) category, 5 riders equipped with Beon250s lined up. In the CNVJR category, and at the controls of the very competitive Mir250s, there were 6 riders present at Estoril. It is worth highlighting and welcoming the female majority in this category with the presence on the track of riders Ana Martins (Pequeno Motos Racing), Carolina Azevedo, Lara Martins (both from Fabio Racing Team) and Margarida Ven\u00e2ncio. The grid was defined after two rounds of timed practice with Santiago Assolari (PM4) securing the first overall pole of the season with 2:01.242s. Alongside him, sharing the front row, are Marcos Ascensio (2:01.657s) and Tiago Tom\u00e9 (2:01.980s), both PM4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Green light for the start of the CNV 2026 and for the 10 laps scheduled for the CNV JUNIOR, with Assolari (PM4) securing first position under braking for turn 1. In his wake were Ascensio (PM4) and Ethan Reardon (PM4), who started from 5th position on the grid. Among the CNVJR category drivers, Sim\u00e3o Viegas was in 6th place overall.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of lap 2, the fight for the lead began to take shape, with Ascensio (PM4) overtaking Assolari (PM4). The duo were progressing at Estoril with a mere 0.15s difference, while Reardon (PM4) found himself battling with Frankie Watson (PM4), also fighting for 3rd position overall and separated by only 0.19s. In the CNVJR category, Viegas continued in a very comfortable 6th place, more than 14 seconds ahead of her closest rival and the women’s leader, Carolina Azevedo.<\/span><\/p>\n

With half the distance covered between the CNVJR drivers, everything seemed defined, but among the PM4s, the difference between the top 5 was 4s, with Assolari returning to the lead. The surprise at this stage of the race came from Tiago Tom\u00e9, who managed to reach 3rd position overall, surpassing Reardon and Watson. With two laps to go, nothing was decided. Ascensio was leading, but with Assolari, Tom\u00e9, and Watson all less than 0.5s behind. Reardon was sinking in the overall standings and was already more than 9s behind the leader.<\/span><\/p>\n

The decision of the first race of the season was taken “to the four” (Ascensio, Assolari, Tom\u00e9, and Watson) to the finish line, with an advantage for Ascensio, who received the checkered flag in first position with a mere 0.041s over Assolari and 0.49s over Tiago Tom\u00e9. Frankie Watson was 4th and 0.69s behind. Among the CNVJR, Sim\u00e3o Viegas (6th overall) would be the strongest, with Carolina Azevedo (7th) and Ana Martins (8th) closing out the class’s TOP 3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, the first winners of the year were found: Marcos Ascensio in the PM$ category and Sim\u00e3o Viegas in the Junior category.<\/span><\/p>\n

NAKED BIKE TROPHY<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Lu\u00eds Franco surpasses competition among NB1 riders<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The second race of the sunny and very windy Saturday afternoon was given to the Naked Bike Trophy riders. As usual, and divided into the NB1 and NB2 categories, there were 13 riders present at Estoril. A highlight was Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Bottoglieri, the 2025 reigning champion in NB2, who, at the controls of his Triumph 765, began the defense of his title here.<\/span><\/p>\n

First overall pole position of the season for the Naked Bike Trophy and the strongest among the NB1 riders, Lu\u00eds Franco with 1:48.067s. Alongside him were Duarte Amaral (NB1) with 1:49.150s and Ricardo Almeida (NB1) with 1:49.202s. Fred\u00e9ric Bottoglieri, the reigning champion in the NB2 category, recorded the 4th best time with 1:49.262s, being the strongest in his category. It was necessary to drop to 10th and 11th positions on the grid to find the 2nd and 3rd NB2 riders, Augusto Machado and Emanuel Arrais respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

A fierce battle was anticipated at the front of the race between Lu\u00eds Franco, Duarte Amaral and Ricardo Almeida (all NB1 riders) with Bottoglieri (NB2) trying to assert his presence.<\/span><\/p>\n

A demonic start to the second race on Saturday afternoon, the first of the current Naked Bike Trophy, with Duarte Amaral (NB1) overtaking the “pole sitter” \u2013 Lu\u00eds Franco (NB1) \u2013 under braking for turn 1 and taking the lead. Ricardo Almeida (NB1) maintained his position (3rd) and Bottoglieri (NB2) imposed his “765” in 4th place overall despite the power difference between the classes.<\/span><\/p>\n

But Bottoglieri wouldn’t stop there. With 5 of the 14 laps completed, the 2025 NB2 champion took 3rd place overall and was running just over 1 second behind the leader Lu\u00eds Franco, with Duarte Amaral in between. The latter would eventually be overtaken by Bottoglieri, who on the 6th lap moved up to 2nd place overall. A champion’s race from the friendly and very experienced French driver residing in Portugal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, among the remaining NB2s, who were running from 10th to 13th position, the classification was ordered by Machado, Soares, Vilardebo and Arrais.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the finish line, Lu\u00eds Franco (NB1) would be the natural winner with more than 7s advantage over a \u201csuper-motivated\u201d Bottogilieri (NB2) and 9s over Duarte Amaral (NB1)<\/span><\/p>\n

In the TOP3 of NB1, Lu\u00eds Franco (1st), Duarte Amaral (3rd) and Ricardo Almeida (4th), and in NB2, Fr\u00e9d\u00e8ric Bottoglieri (2nd), Augusto Machado (10th) and Lu\u00eds Soares (11th).<\/span><\/p>\n

The third race of the day’s sporting program was given to the CNV MOTO4, SSP300 and SPORTBIKE riders, whose aggregation into a single group allowed 19 riders to line up for the start of the season. Among the MOTO4 riders, noteworthy was the presence of the 2025 runner-up, Alexandre Cab\u00e1, who returns for another year of fighting for the current season’s title, and also the presence of another woman, Naama Rosa from the Loul\u00e9 Motorcycle Club. In the SSP300 category, Vasco Camoesas, the current national champion, was present to defend his title, also counting on the presence of, among others, his usual rivals Louren\u00e7o Vicente and Henrique Vicente. In the SPORTBIKES (STB) category, with 3 riders, it is worth highlighting the presence of two more women, Madalena Sim\u00f5es (FB Racing Team) and Carlota Carochinho.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting grid with Tiago Jo\u00e3o (SPB) setting a time of 1:49.977s and securing pole position. Alongside him were Wilson Dilks (MOTO4) with 1:52.747s and Tom\u00e1s Canarias (MOTO4) with 1:52.968s. Vasco Camoesas, the reigning champion in the SSP300 class, was only 7th on the grid with 1:55.708s, being the fastest in the class. The time difference between Tiago Jo\u00e3o and Wilson Dilks in qualifying seemed to suggest a comfortable race for the pole position rider.<\/span><\/p>\n

A cannon start, as expected, with Tiago Jo\u00e3o (SPB) taking the lead and immediately putting distance from the pack, followed closely by Wilson Dilks and Alexandra Cab\u00e1. With 3 of the 14 scheduled laps already completed, the Aprilia 600 rider already held a lead of more than 4 seconds. In his wake, Dilks (MOTO4) found himself battling the formidable Alexandre Cab\u00e1 (MOTO4). Meanwhile, Camoesas, the reigning champion in the SSP300 class, managed to maintain his 7th place overall.<\/span><\/p>\n

With a half-distance lead, Tiago Jo\u00e3o was leading by more than 8 seconds, a walk in the park, and was the strongest among the SPBs. In the same category, Madalena Sim\u00f5es was 6th overall and Carlota Carochinho was 13th. In the MOTO4 category, the Dilks \/ Cab\u00e1 duel enlivened the race in the fight for 2nd place overall, with Gon\u00e7alo Melo Santos in 4th position overall, awaiting the result of this duel that preceded it. In the SSP300 category, Camoesas led in 7th position overall, with Henrique Vicente and Tom\u00e1s Canarias putting up a good fight in 8th and 9th positions respectively, all of them separated by a mere 0.3 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

A race without much drama for Tiago Jo\u00e3o, leading from the first to the last meter to a victory that had been anticipated since the timed practice sessions. Uncertainty reigned until the checkered flag between Dilks and Cab\u00e1, with Dilks managing to climb to the middle of the podium by a mere 0.34s, thus completing the overall podium.<\/span><\/p>\n

By class, in the SPB category, Tiago Jo\u00e3o (also 1st overall), Madalena Sim\u00f5es (5th overall) and Carlota Carochinho (12th overall). In the MOTO4 category, Wilson Dilks (2nd overall), Alexandre Cab\u00e1 (3rd overall) and Gon\u00e7alo Melo Santos (4th overall). In the SSP300 category, Vasco Camoesas (7th overall) started the defense of his title in the best possible way, being the strongest rider, followed by Henrique Vicente (8th overall) and Louren\u00e7o Vicente (9th overall), the latter having benefited from Tom\u00e1s Canarias’ retirement 4 laps from the end.<\/span><\/p>\n

There were 20 riders in the combined peloton, composed of CNVSBK (2 riders), CNV SSP (7 riders) and Copa Dunlop Motoval (11 riders divided between the CDM1 and CDM2 categories). Highlights include the presence of Lu\u00eds Ferreira, who in 2026 will compete in SBK, switching from Naked Bike where he was champion in 2025 in the NB1 class. Also noteworthy is the presence of the reigning SSP champion, Martim Jesus. Last race of the first day of competition of the new CNV season with the green light for SBK, SSP and Copa Dunlop Motoval. Lu\u00eds Ferreira (SBK) took pole position with Martim Jesus (SSP) and Diego Prieto (SSP) alongside him. Among the CDM1 drivers, Carlos Couto occupied 13th position on the grid, being the strongest in the class, and Dany Soares occupied 4th position in the CDM2 class.<\/span><\/p>\n

A perfect start by Dany Soares (CDM2) allowed him to grab the lead over an inspired and fearless Ricardo Lopes (SBK), Martim Jesus (SSP) and Lu\u00eds Ferreira (SBK). This quartet was running in the first laps separated by less than 1 second and kept the excitement alive on the track. Further back, Elliot Bland, running in 9th, was the strongest in the CDM1 class.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unchanged positions with minimal differences were the theme of the race until the 11th lap, when Rui Carvalho’s (CDM1) crash caused the only red flag of the day. With two-thirds of the race already completed and in accordance with the regulations, the riders returned to the pits and did not return to the track. Dany Soares (CDM2) would be the overall winner with Martim Jesus (SSP) and Lu\u00eds Ferreira (SBK) occupying the 2nd and 3rd places on the podium.<\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of final TOP 3 classifications, in SBK, Lu\u00eds Ferreira (3rd overall) and Ricardo Lopes (4th overall). In SSP, Martim Jesus (2nd overall), Isaac Rosa (5th overall) and Celestin Masy (6th overall). In the Dunlop Motoval Cup, CDM1, Elliot Bland (10th overall), Tiago Pires (12th overall) and Carlos Couto (16th overall). In CDM2, Dany Soares (1st overall), Ra\u00fal Felgueiras (7th overall) and Rui Palma (8th overall).<\/span><\/p>\n
